Border Crossers Staff
Sachi Feris, Founder and Director
Sachi founded Border Crossers in 2001 as a response to her experience growing up in New York City. Her goal was to diminish the school-based segregation that keeps diverse communities separate. Before becoming the full-time Director of Border Crossers in 2007, she taught Spanish at NYC elementary schools. Sachi is a Facing History and Ourselves teacher and has presented workshops at conferences sponsored by Teachers College, Columbia University, NYU Steinhardt School of Education, the National Association for Multicultural Education, the Center for Anti-Oppressive Education, and the New York State Association of Independent Schools. She received a BA from Bates College, an MA from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a MPA from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College.
