Impact

Border Crossers’ trainings are changing the ways that educators think, speak and teach about race in their schools. We insist that diversity in schools is not enough, but that educators must have racial justice analysis in order to disrupt racism in classrooms and educational institutions, so that all students learn and thrive in racially equitable and empowering educational environments free from racial bias and discrimination.

The Numbers

– Border Crossers has trained over 5000 educators throughout the country through our “Talking About Race in the Classroom” training.

– This school year alone, we have already trained 2000 educators from across 100 schools. This means over  50,o00 students will have a Border Crossers-trained teacher in their classroom this year.

But, that’s not all…

– We have presented at national conferences: Facing Race Conference, White Privilege Conference, National Black Child Development Conference, National Association of Independent Schools Conference, People of Color Conference (POCC), SOS People’s Education Convention, the National Conference on School Diversity.

– We have led classes at Queens College, facilitated forums for EPIC Theatre Ensemble, presented for Teach for America’s recruitment team, and created a training for the Manhattan Young Democrats.
